World Cup : Teams

Teams from eight countries will participate in the 9th annual Sirius Junior Club World Cup. The tournament is to be held in Sochi from August 23rd to August 31st. Teams from Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and USA will dispute the trophy.

Russia will be represented by the reigning Kharlamov Cup champions Loko Yaroslavl. Volga team have won Kharlamov Cup – Junior Hockey League main trophy - three times and will participate in Junior Club World Cup for the third time as well. Loko won the tournament twice in Nizhnekamsk and last year in Sochi.

For the first time since 2014 North America will delegate two teams to the tournament. Canada will be represented in Sochi by Team Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), which is a part of Canadian Junior Hockey League (not to be confused with Canadian Hockey League). USA will delegate Team North American Hockey League (NAHL).

MODO from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden will compete at the Junior Club World Cup for the second time. Reigning Swedish junior Superelite champions made it to the final in 2017 and lost in hard-fought fashion to Krasnaya Armiya Moscow.

Ocelari Trinec will come to the tournament for the third time. In 2017 Czech ‘steelers’ won bronze at the Junior Club World Cup. The team also won Czech Republic’s junior league championship title as they defeated Sparta Prague in the finals.

4-time Swiss junior hockey league champions Davos will compete at the Junior Club World Cup for the third consecutive time. Last season the team won bronze at their national junior championship.

Kärpät Oulu will represent Finland. The team is a 4-time and reigning champion of junior SM-Liiga. Finnish team has the right to expect to go deep in the tournament.

Austrian Red Bull Salzburg will also compete for Junior Club World Cup for the third time. The team had played in Junior Hockey League for two seasons and competed at the tournament in 2014 and 2018.
