About the League
Junior Hockey League continues the Partner-In-Arms series. Today we’re going to sit down with Kseniya Pashnina, Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk forward Danila Zinovyev’s forward. She shared who she met her other half, how she supports him during the season and named main qualities for partner-in-arms.
I study at South Ural State University. I major in linguistics. I study English and Spanish. I work out at a gym in my spare time. I always want to be in shape because I’m dating an athlete and I have to match him.
I met Danya in the summer of 2015, a day after Timati’s concert. His teammate, whom I had met at the concert, invited me for a walk and said that Daniil wanted to meet me. I decided to check out his Instagram profile and right away took note of his curly hair. When we met, he turned out to be very talkative. He was telling me various stories, laughing all the way and lifting my spirits. After the walk I realized that I didn’t know how to contact him. A day later he found me on Instagram, we DMed each other and exchanged phone numbers. He wanted to know everything about me, including favorite colors and food. Everything was happening so fast that sometimes I thought I was dreaming. Like many others, we have ‘our’ day – it’s August 1st. That’s when we started dating. I remember like it was today. We went to a café, made an order and at some point Danya said he needed to excuse himself. He came back about ten minutes later, gave me a huge plush bear and offered to date.”
Hockey and relationship
“We always talk about hockey. Danya’s brother and his sister’s husband are hockey players so the sport is all around the house. How often do we get to see each other? Almost every day. If, obviously, he’s not on the road. But I can’t say that it’s hard for me to deal with him being away. I do my best to focus on myself and house chores. Actually, I went to a few road trips to Yekaterinburg this season. I was also there for the opening round playoff series. As for the home games, I do my best to come as often as I can.
We always talk on the phone before the games. When I feel that he needs more support, I write him a lengthy message and it has proved to be helpful. When sometimes he hits a slump, I tell him that everything is going to be alright, that he just needs to give his favorite thing in the world everything he’s got and then everything is going to turn out the way he wants.
Hockey or not, rest is on the schedule
Danya favors passive rest. We usually go to a restaurant or to the movies. He also always works on his shot at home and I count how many goals he scores. Sometimes we cook something together. For instance, our signature pasta with prawns and spinach. Favorite place for vacation? We haven’t discovered it yet. Last time we went to Danya’s sister in USA. We went to Capitals games, walked around Washington and also went to Miami. It was a very memorable vacation.
Main qualities are kindness and ability to understand loved one. And, of course, always be there to support him.
Gameplan for loved one
Danya, first of all, I wish you to be very strong and healthy. Enjoy what you do. Always be at your best. Remember, that I’m always by your side. I love you!
