About the League
Three regular season games took place in Parimatch Junior Hockey League on January 6th. All of them were Eastern Conference matchups. We take a look at Monday action in this review.
Avto Yekaterinburg played their second consecutive game in Tyumen where they faced Tyumensky Legion. Yekaterinburg had to work hard to win this time around. Tyumen converted on a power play opportunity 15 minutes into the game – Maxim Bogdanov opened up the scoring. Legion scored another one before the intermission – Evgeny Volkov deftly skated to the slot and beat Georgy Romanov.
The visitors were the only team scoring after that. Notably, they secured the win in the final five minutes and change. Yuri Zhuravlyov and Vladislav Bukharov brought the game back to even, Danil Mylnikov put Avto in the lead with less than two minutes on the clock, while Alexander Fomintsev set the final score with an empty-netter. Vitaly Solovyov’s men win 4-2 on the road.
Final game of the day was held in Kazan where Irbis played hosts to Sarmaty Orenburg. Home team outshot Orenburg in the opening period of play but started converting on their shots only after the intermission. Ilnur Shabanov got the first marker of the game, Adel Bulatov capitalized on a man advantage soon after that, while Kirill Mukhin got another one past Anton Borodkin to give Kazan a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of action.
All Sarmaty could get in this one was a consolation goal. 11 minutes into the third stanza Danil Klimov got a minor penalty for interference and just over a minute later Ilnaz Fakhrutdinov scored on the ensuing power play. Irbis win 3-1 and Sarmaty leave Kazan without a single point.
Top two teams of the Eastern Conference Omskie Yastreby and Tolpar Ufa met in Omsk once again. The day before Tolpar celebrated a win but home side managed to get even in the second game of the back-to-back series. The ‘Hawks’ killed off a penalty in the opening period of play and got on the board as Vladimir Mashkov found the back of the net 14 minutes in. The visitors responded in the last minute of the frame but their goal was waved off due to goaltender interference.
Mashkov went on to score his second of the game in the following period but midway through it Pavel Dergunov brought it back to a 1-goal differential. Soon after that Arseny Gritsyuk restored the 2-goal cushion for Omskie Yastreby and the teams headed to the dressing-room for the second intermission as home side led 3-1. 13 minutes into the third period Danil Alalykin hit the iron but video review proved that the puck crossed the line. Tolpar did their best to go or one final push late in regulation but home team pulled through and got their revenge for the loss the day before.
