About the League
2019 Sirius Junior Club World Cup action continues on August 26th with two games in Group B.
Kärpät vs. Ocelari Trinec
First on the menu is a matchup between the top team of the group and a team that lost their first game. ‘Ermines’ looked very impressive in their first outing. Having allowed a goal in the opening shift of the night, Finnish champions put all of their might on display, scoring five goals for anyone’s taste. Wiliami Juusola, Jesse Moilanen and Petteri Puhakka had two points each for the winners. Joel Blomqvist allowed one goal and looked more than solid in net. All in all, Kärpät seem to be the favorites heading into the game.
However, one shouldn’t forget about the character of Trinec, who didn’t do well in the game against Red Bull. Martin Havranek scored the first goal of the bout but Ocelari collapsed after that and allowed six tallies. Despite the loss Trinec top-line, consisted of Havranek, Jan Kalus and Daniel Przybyla, can cause trouble for any defense.
Team NAHL vs. Red Bull
Another matchup between teams who achieved different results in their first games of the tournament. Red Bull soared past Trinec from Czech Republic. Aljaz Predan leads Austria in points with a goal in two assists. However, it was Paul Huber’s goal that really caught the attention of the fans as it finished off a beautiful passing play.
USA suffered a tough 5-1 loss from Kärpät Oulu. Nate Horn scored the only goal for Scott Langer’s team in the game’s opening shift. Team NAHL looked decent throughout the game but as per their general manager Anthony Zasowski, they still have a few things that need to be improved. It’s obvious that Americans lack chemistry as they had played just one game against Krylia Sovetov Moscow prior to the tournament.
