Seven regular season games took place in Junior Hockey League on February 19th. It all began in Tyumen where local Tyumensky Legion faced Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk, who were eyeing 2nd place in the Eastern Conference.

 

Мagnitogorsk finally ended their 5-game losing streak but they had to work hard to beat Tyumensky Legion. The visitors established a quick and firm 3-goal lead as Nikita Rozhkov scored a pair and Danil Pyatin added a marker of his own. Home team scored several times but they couldn’t get closer than just to within one. Bairas Abdullin scored twice for the home side but that didn’t help them much as Magnitogorsk went on to enjoy a 6-4 win in Tyumen.

Tolpar Ufa beat Snezhnye Barsy Astana on home ice. Key events of the game took place in the opening period of play, which Ufa won by the score of 3-1. Anton Pachin registered two assists, while Samat and Sayan Daniyar combined for a goal for Astana. In the 3rd stanza the teams traded goals. Aziz Seytanov scored for the visitors and Nikolai Sytyi found the back of the net for Tolpar. Ufa went on to win this one 4-2.

Sibirskie Snaipery held on to their lead and managed to beat Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk on home ice. In the opening 40 minutes of play Novosibirsk scored three goals past Sergei Mylnikov – Artyom Artyomov added a marker to Alexander Molofeyev’s pair. In the 3rd stanza Chelyabinsk grabbed the momentum, scored two quick goals but failed to bring the game back to even. Sibirskie Snaipery take this one 3-2.

Dmitry Zhukenov scored a hat-trick for ‘the Hawks’, while Maxim Melnikov netted two tallies. Junior Hockey League top-scorer Anton Ruban picked up four assists as he participated in every goal of his team.

Mamonty Yugry’s 14-game winning streak came to an end. Khanty-Mansiysk lost to Sarmaty Orenburg on home ice. Artur Rayn scored in the opening period of play and early in the 2nd stanza Gleb Zarechny doubled the lead with a shorthanded marker. Mighty offense of ‘the Mammoths’ managed to eke out just one goal this time – Kirill Popov found the back of the net.

Reaktor Nizhnekamsk edged Ladiya Togliatti in the shootout and secured the last available playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. Last year’s runners-up will once again compete for the Kharlamov Cup. Artur Gilmanov and Yegor Favrichnikov shined for Nizhnekamsk. Gilmanov opened up the scoring at 8-29 and then got the shootout-winner, while Favrchnikov tied the game up twice and finished the night with as many goals.
