Six regular season games took place in Junior Hockey League on February 18th. All of them were Eastern Conference matchups. Sibirskie Snaipery hit the ice first with Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk. Novosibirsk won the game by a solid margin.

 

‘Polar Bears’ opened up the scoring at 9-08 but ‘the Snipers’ were the only team scoring after that. Timofey Aksyonenko tied the game up midway through the period, then Sibirskie Snaipery scored twice in the 2nd frame and in the 3rd stanza Nikita Mikhailov stepped into the spotlight as he got two markers in just over a minute. Sibirskie Snaipery win 5-1 in home ice.

Omskie Yastreby beat Kuznetskie Medvedi as last season’s top goal-scorer Anton Kovalyov had night to remember. ‘Hawks’ forward decided to remind everyone of his play last year and scored a hat-trick. Besides, he picked up an assist on another marker and thus finished the night with four points to his name. Notably, all of the scoring took place in the 3rd period of play.

Avto Yekaterinburg were so happy they had secured a playoff berth that they went on to beat Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk in the second game of the back-to-back series as well. Defenseman Maxim Dubovik scored twice for Yekaterinburg – those were first and third markers of the game for Avto. Nikita Pismarkin got the only tally for Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Tolpar Ufa continued the trend of blowout wins as they scored five unanswered goals on Snezhnye Barsy and thus secured a playoff spot after missing the post-season last year. Tolpar scored twice on a powerplay, while Daniil Tarasov earned a shutout as he stopped all 19 shots he had to face in this one.

Mamonty Yugry got another win over Sarmaty Orenburg and it was precious because it meant that for the first time in franchise history Khanty-Mansiysk won the Eastern Conference title. ‘The Mammoths’ still have five games to go in the regular season but neither Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk, nor Sibirskie Snaipery can catch up to them.

Stalnye Lisy Magnitogrosk surprisingly lost to Tyumensky Legion. Home side looked great in the opening period of play as they scored as many as three unanswered goals. In the final stanza Tyumensky Legion allowed two shorthanded tallies but they still went on to win it 6-4 on home ice.
