Team West announced a change in their coaching staff ahead of JHL Challenge Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan. In lieu of Sergei Oreshkin, Mikhail Milyokhin will be assisted by Loko Yaroslavl head-coach Dmitry Krasotkin.
Due to coaching change in MHC Dinamo St. Petersburg, Junior Hockey League consulted with top coaches of the Western Conference and decided to name Loko Yaroslavl head-coach Dmitry Krasotkin as assistant coach of Team West at the 2018 JHL Challenge Cup.
Thus, Team West will be under command of two coaches, who won JHL Challenge Cup in the past two seasons. Two years ago Dmitry Krasotkin was at the helm of Team West in Nizhnekamsk and helped his players to the coveted trophy. In January 2017 Mikhail Milyokhin, who was on Boris Mironov’s coaching staff, participated in the JHL Challenge Cup and Team West beat Team East again to kick off the 2017 All-Star Week.
Dmitry Krasotkin was born on August 28th, 1971 in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region. He was a defenseman. He captained Lokomotiv Yaroslavl for over 10 years. He played 871 games for the ‘railway men’ and scored 61 goals. As a member of Lokomotiv Krasotkin won three Russian national championship titles in 1997, 2002 and 2003; three Russian championship bronze medals in 1998, 1999 and 2005; silver medal at the 2003 Continental Cup; finished third at the 2003 Spengler Cup; participated in Euroleague final tournament in 1998. Krasotkin played 137 games for Team Russia. He competed at three IIHF World Championships in 1995, 1997 and 2001. Krasotkin won Priz Izvestia trophy in 1993, 1994 and 1995; Baltica Cup in 1999 and 2000. He also played for Severstal Cherepovets in 2007/08, Dinamo Minsk in 2008/09 and Krylia Sovetov (VHL) in 2009/10.
As the head-coach of Loko Yaroslavl Krasotkin led his team to Kharlamov Cup and Junior Club World Cup.
Junior Hockey League Challenge Cup will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan on January 11th, 2018.
