Molodyozhnaya Hokkeynaya Liga Media Relations department wraps up this weekend’s action by selecting its first stars. After Saturday and Sunday games Almaz Cherepovets goaltender Alexei Artamkin is named the first start of October 8th and Ladiya Togliatti forward Denis Zernov is named the first star of October 9th.
In the game against HK Riga 19-year-old Cherepovets netminder didn’t let the home team score a single goal, stopping 29 shots. Almaz went on to win the game 2-0 as Vladimir Kalugin and Nikita Loschenko got the markers.
This is Alexei Artamkin’s third season in the MHL. He spent the majority of this time in MHL-B playing for Loko-Yunior. Last season he played nine games, allowing 13 goals. His Goals Against Average was 1.52. Overall Artamkin played 38 games in MHL championships, winning 25 of them and allowing 50 goals.
20-year-old forward helped Ladiya Togliatti to beat Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk. ‘Steel Foxes’ opened up the scoring in the first period of play but after that they allowed six goals. Denis Zernov helped his team by scoring two goals and adding an assist to that for a total of three points. Zernov also scored the game-winning goal.
This is Denis Zernov’s third season in the MHL. He hit his career high in goals and points last regular season. In 44 games he scored 17 goals and got 20 assists for 37 points. Last night Zernov got his first points of the season. Overtall Zernov scored 30 goals and added 32 assists to that for a total of 62 points in 78 games.
Ladiya Togliatti will take on Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk for the second game of the back-to-back series today. The puck drops at 5-30pm Moscow time. You can watch the game live on Molodyozhnaya Hokkeynaya Liga official website.
