Junior Hockey League teams played four exhibition games on August 27th in Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Orenburg and Podolsk.

Omskie Yastreby beat Tyumensky Legion

Omskie Yastreby had blown past Tyumensky Legion 7-1 the day before on home ice but the second game between the two teams in as many days proved to be much more dramatic. Tyumensky Legion opened up the scoring early in the first period of action, then almost erased a 2-goal deficit and did their absolute best to force extra period of play. However, defenseman Yegor Ananyin scored the empty-netter in the last minute of regulation and sealed the deal for Omskie Yastreby, who won the game by the final count of 6-4.

Nikita Grebyonkin scores twice to lift Stalnye Lisy over Sarmaty on the road

Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk couldn’t get their second consecutive blowout win on the road over Sarmaty Orenburg either. This time around the home side lost the game only in the extra period of play. Magnitogorsk forward Nikita Grebyonkin was without a doubt the first star of the tilt. He brought the game back to even, scoring the equalizer late just a few minutes before the buzzer sounded to mark the end of the second period of action and then got the winner for Stalnye Lisy three minutes into overtime. Both of Grebyonkin’s markers were unassisted as Magnitogorsk beat Sarmaty 2-1 in Orenburg.

Belye Medvedi enjoy their second straight win over Molot

Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk got their second consecutive win over Junior Hockey League’s newest member JHC Molot Perm. The second game between the two teams proved to feature more goals than the first as the hosts got three tallies in the opening period of action. Belye Medvedi walked away with a solid 4-1 decision on home ice. Four different players scored a goal each for the ‘Polar Bears’. Rykov had the only marker for the visiting Molot.

Russkie Vityazi fall to Krasnaya Armiya on home ice

Krasnaya Armiya Moscow enjoyed a hard-fought win over Russkie Vityazi Moscow Region on the road in Podolsk. Moscow Region scored the first goal of the game early into the opening period of action and then brought it back to even right before the intermission. The teams were deadlocked 2-2 after 20 minutes of play. The game-winning goal came in the second stanza as Matvey Averochkin hit the twine for the visiting red-and-blue. Krasnaya Armiya defeat the hosts 3-2. The teams combined for four power play goals.
