Two rivalry games in St. Petersburg, pre-season tournament comes to a close in Omsk

Bystrov Memorial continued in St. Petersburg on August 16th, while G-Drive Cup ended in Omsk. Exhibition games took place in Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl and Moscow.

St. Petersburg teams beat two rivals

Traditional pre-season tournament Valentin Bystrov Memorial continued in St. Petersburg. In the opening game of the day SKA-1946 St. Petersburg enjoyed their second win at the tourney, beating their rivals Krasnaya Armiya Moscow in high-scoring fashion. Alexander Gordin scored a pair of goals, while Nikita Kustaryov and Danila Karpov registered two assists each for the visitors.

Loko defeat Chayka for the second consecutive time

Loko Yaroslavl defeated Chayka Nizhny Novgorod Region for the second consecutive time at Viktor Konovalenko Sports Palace – this time the ‘railway men’ enjoyed a 4-1 victory. Alexander Perevalov registered a goal and an assist, while Nikita Kiryanov picked up two helpers. Yaroslavl also prevailed in the shootout as they converted on three of their attempts against Nizhny Nogorod’s two.

Yaroslavl’s second junior team also played an exhibition game that day. The ‘railway men’ defeated SKA-Varyagi St. Petersburg in the shootout. Remarkably, regulation time ended in a 3-3 tie as St. Petersburg managed to come back from behind erasing a 3-goal deficit – Yaroslavl scored all of their goals in the opening period of action. However, the hosts went on to win the game as Dmitry Yabelov’s shootout attempt proved to be the key.
