Pre-season tournament kicks off in Stupino

Head of Metropolitan Cup is now underway in Stupino, Moscow Region. Both games of the opening day ended with the same final score. In the opening bout JHC Spartak Moscow lost to JHC Atlant Moscow Region 3-2 as Alexei Churkin scored a pair of goals.

In the second game of the day the hosts of the tournament HC Kapitan Stupino faced off against Sakhalinskie Akuly Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and enjoyed a win. The bout followed a very similar scenario to that of the game between JHC Spartak Moscow and JHC Atlant Moscow Region. The hosts established a comfortable 3-goal lead, while the ‘Sharks’ from Russia’s Far East managed to wind the differential back down to one. With five seconds remaining to play in regulation Sakhalinskie Akuly scored another goal. After a 10-minute video review, called for by the visitors, the official pointed to center ice. However, Kapitan called video review as well after that and the goal was disallowed once again. Stupino won the game 3-2 on home ice.
