Battle for the final in St. Petersburg

In the opening game of the day at Nikolai Maslov Memorial in St. Petersburg Mamonty Yugry Khanty-Mansiysk lost their second game in a row, falling this time to HK Riga. Latvian side had to come back from behind twice but they enjoyed a great third period of action and got their second win at the tournament.

The key game of the day brought together two arch-rivals, who had met in the 2018 Kharalmov Cup Finals, SKA-1946 St. Petersburg and Loko Yaroslavl. Both teams need to win in order to keep their chances of winning the tournament heading into the final day. The 46’s essentially locked the win in the opening period of action as they scored three unanswered goals past Yegor Gorshkov. Maxim Krovyakov had a pair of tallies, while Grigory Kuzmin was credited with the first goal of the bout, even though the puck entered the net deflecting off a defenseman.

In the second period of play Dmitry Utkin brought Yaroslavl back to within two but soon after that Konstantin Khremkin set the final score at 4-1. In the final day of Nikolai Maslov Memorial first place will be disputed by two St. Petersburg teams – SKA-1946 and JHC Dynamo.
