“WE HAVE A HARD BATTLE ON THE ROAD AHEAD OF US”. KEY MOMENTS AND QUOTES FROM DAY 3 OF THE PLAYOFFS

Top moments and quotes from Day 3 of the 2021 Kharlamov Cup Playoffs.

Spartak 2-4 Krasnaya Armiya
The series is tied 1-1

Game 2 of the Moscow rivalry ended with ‘army men’ emerging victorious. Spartak came back from behind thrice but Yegor Afanasyev and Malik Alishlalov secured the 2-goal advantage for the visitors.

Vladimir Tyurikov, JHC Spartak Moscow head-coach.
“Unfortunately, we allowed too many defensive mistakes, especially on those first couple of goals,” admits Tyurikov. “We have to get off to a better start against such opponent. We weren’t as bold and we lost character-wise. We woke up only in the third period when the opposition had the reins on the game in their hands and didn’t let us do anything. I liked the fact that we battled till the end, looking to turn things around.”

Rinat Khasanov, Krasnaya Armiya Moscow head-coach.
“Everything went well today,” believes Khasanov. “We made certain adjustments and scored a good quick goal. Having said that, I have to point out that our own mistakes impede us from closing out games. But today we did a good job, we played hard, worked the clock late in regulation and got the win.”

SKA-1946 4-3 Almaz
SKA-1946 St. Petersburg lead the series 2-0

‘Army men’ from St. Petersburg went on beat Almaz Cherepovets in Game 2 as well. Down 4-1 the visitors managed to get two goals back but it wasn’t enough. Nikita Dishkovsky notched a pair.

Loko 5–1 JHC Dynamo St. Petersburg
Loko Yaroslavl lead the series 2-0

Loko Yaroslavl enjoyed a much more solid win on home ice over JHC Dynamo St. Petersburg, extending their lead to 2-0. Ilya Nazarov got a pair of tallies. Yaroslavl have a chance to close out the series on Monday.

JHC Dynamo Moscow 6-0 Atlant
JHC Dynamo Moscow lead the series 2-0

JHC Dynamo Moscow steamrolled over JHC Atlant Moscow Region. Forward Daniil Gutik and defenseman Arman Iritsyan scored two goals each.

Yaroslav Lyuzenkov, JHC Dynamo Moscow head-coach.
“We won another game in the best-of-three series. We’re going to travel to Mytischi soon,” says Lyuzenkov. “Despite the final score, the opposition played with their hearts on their sleeves, sometimes getting physical and laying big hits. We have a tough game on the road ahead of us, so we have to get ready for it. First period proved to be scoreless. We spoke to the boys in the intermission and they turned the game around. We can feel the support coming from our fans. Hopefully, they will help us in the future as well.”.
