The game was held at Tatneft Arena in Kazan but it was Kuznetskie Medvedi who were the nominally the hosts. Novokuznetsk began their homestand but due to technical difficulties were forced to play at their opposition’s rink. Irbis Kazan dominated throughout the bout, finishing the night with a whopping total of 46 shots against Semyon Sharabarin. However, just one of them resulted in a goal. 14 minutes into the game Ruslan Galimzyanov opened up the scoring. The marker proved to be the only one that the teams could eke out. Kazan goaltender Vladimir Mosin stopped all 15 shots he had to face to earn a shutout win.

With this 1-0 success Irbis soar back to on top of the Eastern Conference, while Kuznetskie Medvedi couldn’t build on their 2-game winning streak and remained the second last team in the standings.
