In the second semifinal game of the day Reaktor Nizhnekamsk once again beat Almaz Cherepovets. Nizhnekamsk outshot their opposition almost three times to one and deservedly walked away victorious.
Alexander Sokolov’s men came out hard for this one. Bulat Naibullin opened up the scoring at 03-55. The forward got the puck on open ice and sniped it past Alexei Artamkin. Halfway through the opening period of play Reaktor improved their lead to two tallies. Marat Khairullin scored his 9th goal of the playoffs – he is currently on top of the league in that department. It’s suffice to say that he’s followed in second by… Almaz defenseman Vadim Kudako, who has six goals in seven games. Fittingly enough, he was the one who scored Cherepovets’ first and only goal of the game. Yenyushin got in the way of Vladislav Kodola’s shot but Kudako pounced on the rebound and left the goaltender no chance to make it a 2-1 hockey game.
The very same Khairullin was the hero of the second frame. At 23-48 he got the puck in front of the net and sent it into the low corner with a nifty backhand shot. Less than a minute into the third stanza Cherepovets made another defensive mistake, which led to Bulat Nabiullin getting in on a breakaway – the forward had not trouble beating Artamkin as he scored his second of the game. The visiting team had very few scoring chances. Moreover, the further into the period, the more unnecessary penalties they were getting. Nikita Loschenko got a 10-minute misconduct, while Makar Khabarov and Ivan Danch also spent some time in the box. As a result, Cherepovets spent little time playing even strength hockey and the score remained unchanged. Reaktor went on to enjoy a 4-1 win and now Alexander Sokolov’s men are just one step away from Kharlamov Cup Finals. They will try to clinch the series on April 9th in Cherepovets.
