Nine regular season games took place in Molodyozhnaya Hokkeynaya Liga (MHL) on October 20th. Here’s a review of the gameday.

Amurskie Tigry Khabarovsk beat Russkie Vityazi Moscow Region on home ice. In the opening period of play the teams traded goals – Vladislav Karpus scored for Khabarovsk and Vyacheslav Shevchenko netted one for the visiting team as he capitalized on a penalty shot. Key events of the game took place in the second frame – home team grabbed the momentum and scored four goals past Maxim Dorozhko in 15 minutes. Moscow Region team answered with just one tally by Damir Khusainov. Amurskie Tigry went on to win this one 5-2.

MHC Spartak Moscow beat another team from Russia’s Far East and that did that in exciting fashion. The red-and-white scored eight goals on Taifun Primorie Region and allowed three tallies themselves. Kirill Chbiryayev scored a hat-trick for the winning team, while Mark Rozanov netted a pair of his own.

Irbis Kazan beat Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk on the road. Moreover, two goals were enough for Kazan to get three points in this one. Midway through the second period of play Artyom Rasulov opened up the scoring and at 51-29 Maxim Bain made himself available and scored another one with a beautiful wrister. Arseny Akhmetov stopped all 25 shots he had to face and thus earned a shutout.

Avto Yekaterinburg beat Tyumensky Legion Tyumen in the second game of the back-to-back series as well and once again they did it by a 2-goal differential. Halfway through the second period of play Yekaterinburg had a 2-0 lead thanks to two tallies by Boris Levitsky. Early in the third frame Pavel Vornkov beat Igor Tyalo again – this one came with a man-advantage. Tyumensky Legion woke up too late. Maxim Kirilov put home team on the board but 51-07 but that proved to be the only goal they would score all night. Avto Yekaterinburg take this one 3-1 on the road.

After losing two games to MHC Dinamo St. Petersburg Chayka Nizhny Novgorod beat Atlanty Moscow Region on home ice. Nizhny Novgorod opened up the scoring just 41 seconds into the first period of play – Kirill Klopov found the back of the net. However, with less than a minute remaining in the second frame Moscow Region tied the game up on a powerplay – Vasily Narzyayev got the marker. Akim Kolomarov scored the game-winning goal at 53-02 to win it for Chayka.

Cherepovets prevailed over Krylia Sovetov Moscow, extended the latter’s losing streak to seven games. Home team won this one 5-2. Eduard Chekmaryov scored a hat-trick for the winning team. He also scored the first and the last goals of the game.

Top team of the Western Conference SKA-1946 hosted HK Riga tonight and enjoyed a 2-1 win. Kirill Petkov and Alexei Ozhgikhin scored for the winning team. Riga sliced SKA-1946’s lead in half early in the third period of play but that was the only goal they could score in this one. With this loss HK Riga extend their losing streak to seven games. Latvian team is currently last in the Western Conference.

The game in Yaroslavl between Loko and Krasnaya Armiya Moscow ended with the most popular final score of the gameday – home team won 2-1. At 15-24 Yegor Ogiyenko took advantage of the screen in front of Ilya Konovalov’s net on a powerplay, took a shot from the blue line and found his target. Key events of the game took place late in regulation. Loko top-scorer Artur Kayumov brought it all back to even again at 56-44 and it looked like overtime was imminent. However, with just seconds remaining on the clock in regulation Ogiyenko buried another one past Konovalov. Krasnaya Armiya take three points in a hard-fought game.

MHC Dinamo St. Petersburg didn’t have any trouble beating HC MVD Moscow Region on the road and as a result they enjoyed a blowout 4-0 win. Anton Nazarevich opened up the scoring early in the first period of play. In the second frame Alexei Kudryavtsev and Kirill Andreyev scored a tally each in a span of 4-46. Early in the last stanza Vladisalv Nalyotov set the final scored at 4-0 as he found the back of the net on a powerplay. With this win the blue-and-white rise to sixth place in the Western Conference.
